THE PROVINCE OF ALICANTE
The province of Alicante captivates its visitors with a host of varied attractions. From the inland mountain ranges to the Costa Blanca, one of the Mediterranean’s leading tourist destinations, with more than 50 Blue Flag beaches stretching along 200 kilometres of coastline. If you travel down from the Marina Alta district, in the north of the province, you will discover a land of contrasts bordered by spectacular cliffs and small, secluded beaches and the famous fine sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of Benidorm, until you reach the southern districts with their impressive natural dune systems and long fine sand beaches.
Here you will find numerous wetlands and salt marshes, such as the Lagunas de la Mata in Torrevieja and El Hondo in Elche.
